ANIMAL CROSSING NEW HORIZONS PSA

THERE IS STILL A VILLAGER MOVING IN GLITCH IN 1.1.4!

This is NOT the same as the broken plot glitch that involved adopting villagers forced out by amiibo.

I'm going to refer to the new glitch as the "I've moved out" glitch (cont.)
The effects of this glitch are that a plot gets sold to a new villager, their house appears, but then (not always immediately) their door says "I've moved out" and the villager disappears.

They don't leave your island though and are still visible in ceremonies and such.
This means that, like the previous glitch, you're stuck with a broken plot with an invisible villager in it. Theres no confirmed method to fix this though some people have done so through time travelling and forcing out the villager with an amiibo
The reason as to why this happens is suspected to be a mishap with "void" adoption. When a villager leaves your town, even after they're fully moved out, they enter the "void" for a few days which means their data is still there on your island (cont.)
If someone visits your island while they have an empty plot, there's a chance that a "void" villager from your island will move into theirs. This was also a thing in New Leaf, and is not a glitch in itself
However, it seems that this has been disrupting online trades. For example, someone has gone to adopt a villager in boxes (lets say Lolly) but the villager that takes the plot is a villager in the void, despite being able to "successfully" invite Lolly when talking to her
Some people have also noted that when trying to invite a villager in boxes, they've been able to prompt them to move twice. This seems to have preceded the glitch in many cases, but doesn't seem to be the actual cause
However, it's also been happening to people who havent even TRIED to adopt a villager from someone's island, but they get a random void villager move in who glitches in this way. This makes visiting any island while you have an open plot potentially dangerous
Some people have also reported invited villagers glitching in this way even a week after moving in, which is also scary because you don't know if your online adoptions are safe just because this didnt happen immediately
I saw one report of someone saying this happened to them from a nook mile ticket villager but it could be that a void villager from another town also messed that up there so I'm not sure if Nook Miles villagers are affected but I'm assuming not. It seems to just be trades
Here is an excellent document explaining all this including how the void works a lot better than me lol if you want to take a look. I also recommend sharing it around https://twitter.com/Rintagonist/status/1247662987952832512?s=19
Here's two Bell Tree Forums threads specifically about it if you want to read some people's experiences with it and how it happened for them

Perhaps most importantly this is where a lot of people seem to be reporting the bug! Please do report it if you experience it yourself, and if not do send in the document and explain it so that it's brought to Nintendo's attention.

Tldr: Its still unsafe to trade villagers online at the minute (forced out by amiibo or not)

Avoid going to other people's islands when you have empty plots

Report the "I've moved out" glitch to Nintendo to get it patched with the document posted above
