I see that someone who is paid to know about politics for a living is pretending not to know that MPs have staff they have to pay and equip for work.
I know one shouldn’t take the bait but holy shit I hate that sort of punditry. Literally what is the point in getting up in the morning and aspiring to make the world less informed and less trusting of democratic institutions?
I could perhaps even understand better if he was making a party-political point. At least then he’d just be shilling for his team. But he’s not! He’s just pretending to be an idiot for retweets.
Also! The decision to give the extra expenses was made by the independent expenses body set up after the expenses scandal. What does Pierce want here? For politicians to overrule the independent body and, umm, decide their own expenses policy as before?
