The Taxpayers' Union actually does receive more money from ordinary people than Twitter's characterisation.

Yes, massively supported by corporates and some of the worst richest people in our society, but also many of the worst average people in our society. https://twitter.com/EnzerEnzer/status/1248396657164562432
A variation on ENZER's question is 'doesn't charity start at home' with these types and why isn't Alan Gibbs upping his contribution before seeking Govt support.
Note: I am glad they have sought funding if those oligarch's have ditched them. There's a lesson there too for the TU.

I'm not as strongly negative on them as @keith_ng is. Yes there's plenty of bad output, but a lot of the waste watching stuff (even the trivial stuff) is good.
And the TU's economic response to the pandemic was top notch for any org or individual without access to the resource of the public sector.
Better than any other responses coming out of people who present themselves as reasonable commentators https://twitter.com/Economissive/status/1239423489557192705
Where better to go for an example of the wrong characterisation at the start of this thread than the expert in wrong (often deliberately so) characterisations: https://twitter.com/gtiso/status/1248386783894589445
