THREAD W/CONTENT WARNING: ED, ANXIETY

When quarantine orders were first being issued across the world, many of us were scared about multiple things. For those with any disorders - especially those in the midst of reconciling with them - we were afraid of our disorders (1/7)
becoming stronger than ever. Having some sort of routine can help ward off the effects of disorders(mostly bc it provides positive distraction), so abrupt change in daily order is a perfect gateway for relapse.

You are probably confused as to why I’m talking about this. (2/7)
I am here to add personal perspective, and to let others know they are not alone in their struggle with their disorder(s).

I have struggled with general anxiety for most of my life.

I have also, for about 2 years, struggled on and off with bulimia nervosa. (3/7)
Close friends know about my struggle with anxiety, and I have become more open about it with others recently. I have never talked about my ED. The only person who *might* know is my mother.

This past month have heightened both disorders to a very scary extent, and it has (4/7)
hard to get some sort of grip on them when it feels the world is crashing in and there’s no reason to fight.

I’m not here to give advice on how to handle your disorder(s) during a pandemic - everyone’s disorders manifest in countless different ways and it would be wrong (5/7)
of me to act like I knew exactly how to help you, especially if my methods of coping are not effective for you.

I am simply here to raise awareness that many are struggling around you and that many of us do it silently. For those who struggle too, you are not alone. (6/7)
Anyone is welcome to reach out, no matter then reason.

I will leave you all with this:

If you are in the same boat, I am with you with a paddle, and although it is exhausting, we will paddle upstream to a place of strength, no matter how long it will take.
