I'm really angry tonight. Hundreds, or more likely thousands, of vulnerable elderly patients are dying across the country in care home due to covid-19. Staff at these homes are totally unprepared to deal with the situation and they don't have adequate PPE to do so.
And there are stories emerging that covid-19 patients are being transferred to care homes. No one is being tested and staff can so easily be passing the virus to other vulnerable patients as well as to their own families.
We were supposed to be protecting the most vulnerable in society, yet we are basically killing them off. And, if you think I'm being over dramatic or making it up, go and educate yourself about what is happening. Educate yourself why some of the lowest paid are dying for you.
Educate yourself why nurses aren't paid what they deserve to be paid. Educate yourself as to what we should have been doing as country to prepare ourselves for this unsympathetic virus back in January or February.
And if you are clapping for our NHS staff, and other essential workers, please make sure it isn't just a symbolic gesture. These people are putting their lives on the line for you. They deserve more than just a clap every week. They deserve your respect and your support.
