Today is a happy and sad day for me. I got FF7, but it's also the 1-year mark of my mom's passing on the 26th. I somehow forgot, until today, that she bought me the original game AND a PS1 to play it on, for my birthday in 1998. She would ball out at random times like that for us
Getting a game for my birthday was routine, but I either worked with my dad to save up for systems, or it might be my one Christmas gift that year. She legit just took me to EB that August and had me tell the guy exactly what I needed.
I remember going to Blockbuster afterwards with her, sitting in the car, just staring at the giant DualShock bundle box and the game case in sheer disbelief.

I had been playing the game the previous day with my friend and we got up to the train graveyard in like 8 hours.
When I got home with my own copy, I got there so fast that I had to call him and tell him I was gonna go past where we got up to. I felt bad, but super excited.

I really can't believe this remake is real. I wish my mom was here to see it.
I legit played this game in this kid Mike's basement. We would take couch cushions, put them on the floor, and just grind through the game for weekends at a time. It was legit a magical time in 4th grade.
