had a hard conversation with my boss today before they sent me home to continue working from there.

we don't get sick time at my job; we accrue 5.85 hrs (max) of PTO every 2 weeks (which totals 19 days/year) & if you need to call out sick, you HAVE to use the PTO you've accrued. if you don't have PTO, well, you either have to take the time off unpaid or go to work sick

i've gotten sick so much this year that i have 0 PTO saved up. i was out for covid-related reasons (i'm fine) & my manager did me a favor & let me go negative so i wouldn't have to worry about not being paid during this crisis. i currently have about -24 hours of PTO.
