Leftists shouldn’t court racists, sexists, LGBTQphobes just because they belong to the working class. POC, women, and LGBTQ people ALSO belong to the working class and they deserve to feel safe in their own goddamn labor movement.

Women like Lucy Parsons and Mother Jones help found the IWW and make sure that ALL people had a home in their union. Not just white men. We should follow their remarkable example.

To fight racism is to fight capitalism as well. Racism was used to to justify slavery so that the ruling class could generate enormous wealth in the name of capitalism. Racism is a product of greed and fear. To be a racist is to betray the working class and common human decency.

And I want to be clear, even if racism WASN’T a product of capitalism, it would still be disgusting and need to be destroyed.
