The City Council will vote on a measure Tuesday night that, if approved, would reduce both the feasibility of housing development in South Berkeley AND the amount of funding for the Housing Trust Fund which funds affordable housing for low income residents. (1/5)
We supports construction of more affordable housing for our low-income neighbors. While this measure supposedly supports construction of affordable housing, its effects will be the *opposite* of its purported goals. (2/5)
According to Adeline Plan consultant Street Level Advisors, construction of any new housing is barely feasible under the Draft Adeline Plan Area. This measure will be the final straw making sure that no new proposed housing development in South Berkeley will pencil out. (3/5)
Significantly, this measure is also opposed by our non-profit affordable housing allies because reducing fees going to the Housing Trust Fund means less non-profit low-income housing can be built. (4/5)
Please take a moment to send a message to the city council at [email protected]. Let them know you oppose Item 39 linked below. (5/5)
