"NOT GOING TO HAPPEN" I've left my family behind for long periods of time to serve my country as many others have. The hardest part is concern for our families' well being. I cannot imagine people willingly walking away from their families while their families are in harm's way. https://twitter.com/NBCSNationals/status/1248294872299307008
People will say, "you're putting them in harm's way if you keep interacting with them" yeah no... I'm taking bleach showers wearing a mask, gloves and keeping 15 ft away from others if that's what it takes. You'll never convince me my family is better off without me around.
My wife is an amazing woman, perfectly capable of anything, but there's no doubt, and I can speak from a whole lot of experience on this, that she, my kids or I are better off being together, by far. The difference is tremendous. Only serving God or Country can force me to leave.
I could say so much on this. I've said yes to because of duty, no because it was what I'd consider extra curricular, how long we've been separate because of it, the harm it did to growth/development/health. No one will ever convince me families should be separate unless necessary
I back Zimm and many players who feel like this. If they're going to be asked to play due to contracts, they need the option to either bring family with or to opt out. There are controls to mitigate the physical risks so that other risks aren't forced upon them. That is all.
