1. After a couple of conversations this evening, I'm going to give my opinion about the 'controversy' surrounding the police moving ppl from beaches and parks, even when they were at the required distance from others.
2. "Rules are there to be broken" is a saying that is highly questionable atm, as breaking them could cost lives.
3. The issue is not that ppl in a park or on a beach at a safe distance to others are directly endangering others. The issue is that the rule either applies to all or it applies to none. So it's either empty beaches and parks or full ones without sufficient distancing.
4. The reason this matters is because there are so many vulnerable ppl who are counting on others to follow the advice.
5. I'm one of those ppl. Because of ppl not following the advice, there is a disproportionate number of cases in the small town in which I and my OH, with compromised immunity, live. This means that our freedom is even more restricted.
6. I know self-isolation is tough, we've been doing it for nearly 6 weeks. But lives depend on it.
7. On the subject of MH, I'd just like to say that being able to go out is important. I have MH issues and seeing ppl ignore the advice/restrictions exacerbate them, as it makes going outside even more of a risk.
8. Unnecessary journeys are an issue because the emergency services are already overstretched, so the risk of additional work caused by road traffic accidents needs to be avoided. They are being subjected to extreme levels of stress and abuse atm for trying to keep us safe!
9. The experts are telling us to stay at home.
For the last 4 years we've been begging ppl to listen to the experts. Now is not the time to ignore them.
10. On a last, personal note, the suggestions that I'm just jealous of ppl going to a beach or selfish for not wanting my OH to die are deplorable. If that's your opinion of me, please unfollow me or, better still, block me.
