...hug Bird and tell her that I know EXACTLY what she’s going through and that I care a great deal about her and the space program....

...I didn’t grow up to be an astronaut but I did grow up to be a teacher of curious, sensitive, gifted kids like Bird and me. I feel this character like she’s my own and even though there are many other wonderful characters in this book, I think young Bird is my favorite....

...I loved this snapshot of an imperfect family and how these kids are learning to be better. Also, THANK YOU for the resolution of Fitch’s biggest transgression...that’s exactly how I hoped she would respond!
