Pakistan must stop harassing and torturing my family. Two weeks Its military severely tortured my younger brother. He was investigated about my human rights activism. He has experienced irreversible injuries and still couldn’t move properly.

2/ Two weeks ago, the Pakistani military stationed near our ancestral village called my younger brother, Asad Ullah, to their camp in Gosháng village in Kolwa, Awaran. He was severely tortured, including being hanged for hours. He has experienced irreversible injuries...

3/Later my elder brother was asked to come to the camp and take him home as he could not walk by himself due to the severe tortures. This is not the first time my family has been harassed due to my human rights activism.There were dozens of such deliberate harassments in the past

4/ In August 2015, after I had arrived in Canada, the military broke into my house, threatened my mother and the only sister and burned down the entire house, leaving nothing back.

5/ In 2018, my mother and the earlier mentioned tortured brother were stopped, harassed and investigated for hours at a military checkpoint close to our village, Karki Kad. They were asked about me and my activism.

6/They were allowed to go w/ threats for severe & brutal results if I didn't stop raising my voice against the military's injustices n Balochistan. They were too afraid of telling me about all these because they believed if they would speak,the military might get harsher on them

7/ Today I called my mom. She told me that they had taken my brother to doctors in the Awaran district's civil hospital, but he still couldn't move properly. She also mentioned four other people from the village were brutally tortured during the last 30 days alone.

8/ They cannot sit and move from the torture pains. She also described how the doors and windows of their homes are stoned every night while they are sleeping.

9/ They tortured my bro on the pretext to give them information about me as they pretend that they do not know about my whereabouts. Whereas on different occasions, they threatened them to ask me to stop my activism. It's strange why they think that as I'm openly living in Canada

10/He was also asked to present himself to the military camp several times. He was also investigated about how much money I send to my family and how many businesses we own and who else is supporting them. We don’t own any businesses. My family members are daily wage labourers.

11/ Because of military harassment, my family, especially my mother and sister, are mentally disturbed. Even they are too afraid to call me and talk to me.

12/For the sake of avoiding further problems, I had been extremely restricted not to bring these incidents to the media n the past, as my family was scared that the military&their local thugs would increase their harassment. They haven't even told my father about the incident yet

13/ I live in Toronto, as a refugee, attend my classes openly at @UofT. If the Pakistani authorities have any problems, then they should talk to me instead of harassing & torturing my family. They have no right to harass and abuse my family, who have nothing to do w/ my activism

14/ This has compelled me to announce that if still the Pakistan military and government don't stop harassing and torturing my family back home, I will register a case in the courts here in #Canada against #Pakistani diplomats and authorities.

15/As a permanent resident of Canada, I also request the Canadian government, especially our respected Prime minister, Justin Trudeau and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, to ask Pakistani authorities to stop harassing my family back home.

16/ I also request my university, my classmates, friends and human rights activists and the Canadians to request our government to ask Pakistan to stop harassing my family members back home.
