#WhyIDidntReport the first time I talked to well-loved and trusted @LDSchurch church leader about being sexually harassed, I was told to “take it as a compliment.” I figured sexual abuse would be treated the same way.

#WhyIDidntReport delayed understanding of childhood sex abuse is a real thing. I didn’t fully grasp what had happened to me. #MeToo #churchtoo

Because in @Ch_JesusChrist seminary, I was taught that a PROPHET OF GOD thought I was better off dead than raped. So, it was easier to convince myself that it never happened. #WhyIDidntReport

#WhyIDidntReport because I thought it would keep me out of heaven.

Because when I tried talking to church leaders from a place of vulnerability and hurt, a @Ch_JesusChrist GENERAL AUTHORITY sent me the following quote from an Apostle:

(The quote may be from the 80s, but the GA sent this to me just last year.)

Because the @Ch_JesusChrist told me that if I reported to the police, they would stop the church disciplinary process and I worried that would give the abuser more time and power to abuse church members.
