Hi @roundhoward @acmazzaro! Is it possible that in #BetterCallSaul we are actually witnessing Jimmy breaking good, as opposed to the bad we've been anticipating? Mike's monologue has such an impact on Jimmy that I wonder if love might be his motivation as Saul in Breaking Bad.
Jimmy learns from Mike that he can use his unique skills to protect and serve the person he loves. Even though this requires an extreme moral sacrifice, perhaps, like Mike, there is something more pure within him that justifies or at least explains his future decisions as Saul.
This could be a surprising and gratifying way of using the prequel to recontextualize Saul in Breaking Bad without necessarily betraying the original character. The show has done so much to make us root for Jimmy that I really need the series to end with us still on his side.
The tragedy might be that Jimmy and Kim are forced to separate, but I 100% think this will be for her protection rather than death or an explosive breakup. Not sure how they will do it, but I have complete faith that the show will not allow Kim to become a damsel in distress.
P.S. Thanks for reading! I look forward to your podcast every week and really enjoyed your takes on Mr. Robot, one of my favorite shows ever and an absolutely killer ride.
