So his first objection is to the Hadith in which the prophet (pbuh) predicts that Islam would be split into many sects....he calls this "disgusting"

Here he cites Al Tabari which btw is FILLED with weak and fabricated reports but whats more embarrassing is that the report doesn't even exist ! here is the page and volume he cited, the page talks about munafiqoon (hypocrites) and liars.

...does NOT mean she can be FORCED into it. Furthermore if she is sick on her menses, sickness or an obligatory duty such as fasting, Hajj and the like then refusing to do so wont be a sin. Also if she finds him unattractive etc she can just file for divorce in an Islamic court.

So what is the verse in question trying to say? The ullema (scholars) unanimously agree that the striking mentioned in the verse is without severity or pain.

And despite all those said restrictions its still disliked to "strike" them despite it being a non painful symbolic act.

So to sum it up its a symbolic act you cant cause bruising, u cant cause broken bones and u cant even cause pain. Furthermore the prophet himself rhetorically criticized for hurting their wives by saying the following
"How does one of you strike his wife ....

....commentary by an anti Islam Egyptian coptic priest by the name of Zakaria Botros. Firstly the hadith he cites is NOT sahih (authenticate) secondly this ignoramus needs to realize that اضطجعت (Id'tajat) doesn’t mean “to have sex” ....
... this would only make sense if the word used was ضاجع (daja) which would imply lying down in a sexual manner but the word is اضطجعت is lying down in a non sexual sense.
