Tfw a journalist who’s been following you takes it upon herself to provide you the help you’ve been asking for for weeks and govt, non-profits & social housing operator have refused to.

HUGE thanks to @bethanylindsay who spent last hour taking out my recycling & stinky garbage.

My place is empty of boxes and bags and broken bins for first time in a month and I feel like a thousand pounds has been lifted from my chest and I’m actually smiling.

Bonus she stopped at store and got the missing items from grocery order and also brought strawberry mochi

It’s almost like disabled people know the help they need and it just takes people listening to us.

Speaking of listening to disabled people because we know what we need. One of the things @bethanylindsay took out for me is a shower commode that's been sitting never used in my apt since OT who 'knew better than me' what I needed ordered it in 2010.

I've tried to give it away, listed it, called places to donate it but they given what it is no one wanted it. It was huge, big wheeled (why I don't know) thing that was painful to sit in & was unneeded. I just got housing to move the drop-down shower seat to right place.

I kept it in the shower bc there is literally no space in this tiny place and would wheel it out when I had one - then wheel in. But I could never wheel it all the way out of the apt.

Anyway...

Every time I went in the bathroom its presence was a reminder of not being listened to, being given things I don't need and not being given the things I do.

I just went in and saw shower empty for first time.
I yelled YES!

One final to OT.

I couldn't make whole thread mushy or you'd wonder if it was really me.

But seriously. It feels like my shower now. A leaking, flooding shower blocked by a toilet and not at all accessible but the hospital presence has been removed. I stared at that empty space for 5 minutes.
