JUST IN: California will begin distributing a extra $600 per week in federal unemployment benefits this Sunday for individuals with already-processed claims. Check with @CA_EDD for more information: https://edd.ca.gov/about_edd/coronavirus-2019/workers.htm
The state is still overhauling its system to include self-employed, part-time and gig workers who weren’t eligible in the past. Once finished, these important changes mean anyone who lost their job due to the coronavirus pandemic will be able to receive benefits.
The good news: once the state is able to process new claims, benefits will be RETROACTIVE to when a worker lost a job, not when the application was processed.
