THREAD: Life is overwhelming for us all right now. Sometimes scary. I wanted to share some positivity. Hope. My parents are both in their 80s. My Mum has not been in good health for a number of years and my Dad has suddenly become very frail after contracting Parkinsons.
They live about 40 mins away whichmay as well be on the moon as I have been advised I am in a ‘high risk’ group and so am basically confined to the house. 3 weeks ago my Mum contracted #Covid19. She was gravely ill and at one point both she and us thought she was going to die.
My Dad also contracted the virus. Thankfully not as seriously as Mum but he was struggling to look after her at home. Eventually Mum went into hospital. On her own. We feared that we’d never see her again. Dad was still ill. Left at home on his own. I was still stuck here.
There was a strong likelihood that this virus was going to take both my parents. However today I spoke to my Mum (as I have every day through this) and she sounded brighter for the first time in weeks. She’s back at home and recovering. My Dad was pottering in the garden.
The point of this thread is to say like many people I have had to deal with some of the worst the virus has given us. But my elderly parents are recovering. It IS possible. Any of you facing similar please don’t lose hope. I know I’ve been lucky. I hope you are too. x
