I& #39;m writing a thread right now that will probably be a bit controversial/unpopular but I really feel like I need to speak up about some thoughts re: the Mariah-Eunsoo controversy, especially since the conversation has been recently reignited.
As you can see below, I& #39;ve alluded to certain pieces of information (that I& #39;ve heard from people close to the situation) that complicated my view on what occurred. Recently, a lot of that information has become public. https://twitter.com/LiftLoopLunge/status/1207394612949790721?s=20">https://twitter.com/LiftLoopL...
There are several reasons that I chose not to share that information (I& #39;m more than happy to discuss this over DMs). However, after a lot of thinking and reflection, my conclusions were as follows: I believe the incident at Worlds was an accident. I believe that ATS handled the
situation VERY poorly. I believe that Mariah has been unjustly subjected to some pretty awful online harassment. I believe that Eunsoo & Mariah are spectacular skaters whose careers have been negatively impacted by extreme fan reactions. While I am uncomfortable with the fact
that a lot of this information is being publicly revealed, I also understand, first-hand, the frustration with seeing a person being branded as a villain and constantly attacked/teased/insulted for a situation that is more complex than meets the eye.
TBH the fact that I& #39;ve seen certain fans who are willing to insult/harass a skater with limited information yet be resistant to even having a longer conversation about the situation makes me deeply uncomfortable.
It& #39;s almost like the credibility of information is being judged against how well it fits into a preconceived narrative.

I have a few more thoughts but I want to take the time to ensure that I can communicate them effectively and respectfully.
