I'm writing a thread right now that will probably be a bit controversial/unpopular but I really feel like I need to speak up about some thoughts re: the Mariah-Eunsoo controversy, especially since the conversation has been recently reignited.
As you can see below, I've alluded to certain pieces of information (that I've heard from people close to the situation) that complicated my view on what occurred. Recently, a lot of that information has become public. https://twitter.com/LiftLoopLunge/status/1207394612949790721?s=20
There are several reasons that I chose not to share that information (I'm more than happy to discuss this over DMs). However, after a lot of thinking and reflection, my conclusions were as follows: I believe the incident at Worlds was an accident. I believe that ATS handled the
situation VERY poorly. I believe that Mariah has been unjustly subjected to some pretty awful online harassment. I believe that Eunsoo & Mariah are spectacular skaters whose careers have been negatively impacted by extreme fan reactions. While I am uncomfortable with the fact
that a lot of this information is being publicly revealed, I also understand, first-hand, the frustration with seeing a person being branded as a villain and constantly attacked/teased/insulted for a situation that is more complex than meets the eye.
TBH the fact that I've seen certain fans who are willing to insult/harass a skater with limited information yet be resistant to even having a longer conversation about the situation makes me deeply uncomfortable.
It's almost like the credibility of information is being judged against how well it fits into a preconceived narrative.

I have a few more thoughts but I want to take the time to ensure that I can communicate them effectively and respectfully.
