There is a vicious positive feedback loop destroying academia. Political skew results in homophily selecting for like-mindedness. Like-mindedness means shared intellectual blind spots, resulting in an inability to recognize the problems caused by these blind spots.

Expect see a large Leftward shift in the field of evolutionary biology and ecology over the next decade. Critical Social Justice's grip on the field has grown increasingly tight right before my eyes during my 12-year stint (undergrad, grad, postdoc) in academia. Not good.

And those graduate students and postdocs steeped in CSJ in my cohort are the ones now starting to get faculty jobs. Especially since they're also the ones who have fully subscribed to the regressive ideological pledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The filter is strong.
