I’m gonna do a thread to show just how blinded, arrogant & delusional Liverpool fans really are when they claim their current side is better than our Treble winners from 2013.
Alisson is arguably the world’s best goalkeeper alongside Jan Oblak. He’s been tremendeous for Liverpool after the Karius debacle in Kyiv. His absence showed in the match against Atlético as well. Those kinds of errors simply don’t happen to world class goalkeepers.
Neuer on the other hand might have lost a little bit of his luster after his injury, but at his prime he was on another level. He revolutionised the classic goalkeeping role with his “sweeper-keeper” style of play.
He won the Golden glove at the 2014 World cup, finished third in the race for the Ballon d’Or that same year and was Fifa’s best GK for four years running (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016). He is clearly better than Alisson.
I don’t think I need to explain why Lahm is miles ahead od TAA. Alaba is better than Robertson as well as he has been among the top 3 best LB’s for eight years already.
While Matip is certainly better than Dante, prime Boateng wasn’t inferior to Van Dijk. They are on the same level. Boateng was strong at the back while also famous for his long balls. Don’t forget he got the ball to Ribéry who assisted Robben for the winner.
In terms of work rate and pressing, 2013 Bayern & 2019 Liverpool are more or less on the same level. But LFC still lacks technique as seen against Napoli & Atlético. In that sense, we were superior since we could easily shift between pressing & possesion.
This was best seen in our matches against Juve & Barça. We had 54% possesion against Juventus, while we let Barcelona dominate the ball and destroyed them on the counter. Not the mention the fact we had Müller & Kroos for these purposes.
As for offense, Mané could give Robben or Ribéry a run for their money. Salah couldn’t. He is an overrated fraud who dissapeares in big games.
What made Robben & Ribéry so great was their ability to show their very best in the defining moments for the team despite their horrible injury records. A trait only Gini Wijnaldum and occasionally Mané have shown so far.
Ribéry was Uefa’s player of the year in 2013 & third on the Ballon d’Or shortlist that year. His role in the team was specific since he was basically a winger who was assigned with playmaking. Something only 2013/14 Di María played besides him.
Robben was more of a finisher. Fifa WC 2014 Bronze ball winner, fourth on the Ballon d’Or shortlist in 2014, included into Fifa’s TOTY in 2014 (none of Liverpool’s front 3 were included even once).
As for the number 9’s, both Mandžukić & Firmino had a similair role to press high up the pitch and create space for the wingers while drawing away defences. The difference is Mario had a knack for scoring big goals as he scored against BVB and later with Juve & Croatia.
While Jupp’s obviously won more silverwere and has far more expirience, the main reason why he’s overall a better manager than Klopp is his ability to adapt. He basically ruined Borussia with their own weapon in 2013 on all three fronts.
Liverpool became a title contender mainly because Klopp’s new assistant Pep Lijnders changed the team’s tactics. Otherwise Klopp would continue to play energy-draining football.
And let’s not forget the fact 2013 Dortmund is a class above Spurs. This side took apart Real Madrid not once - but twice during their campaign.
So 2012/13 Bayern is by all means better than 2018/19 Liverpool. Our trophy cabinet & broken records prove it. Not saying LFC isn’t good. It’s a great team. But know your place. Our Treble winners were a class above most teams in this century.
