It feels like the social media wing of the #YangGang/ #HumanityForward movement is lacking direction and focus right now. This is a thread attempting to make sense of things and provide some informal direction on how to potentiate our power and keep the online Yang Gang intact. 1/
First off, “Twitter isn’t real life” is an oversimplified stance. Yes it’s true that if top 5 trends led to wins, Yang would’ve won in a landslide—but if used wisely, what we do here does matter and anyone who says differently isn’t thinking hard enough. 2/
Let’s refocus on what drew us so passionately into this movement in the first place: #HumanityFirst values. This doesn’t mean being a pushover, nor does it mean we police each other to be perfect. We aren’t. I’m guilty of some snark and shit-flinging myself. But let’s try. 3/
We need to stick together and support our content creators. Follow, RT, and subscribe to Patreons. @JamesTreakle @PagetKagy @ZachandMattShow @nerdsforyang @YangVets @gariamray @48States4Yang etc (tag others please) 4/
We can also boost each other by making group chats with people we know and trust(!). Use these chats to share relevant content and discuss ideas and strategy. Trying to get a blue checkie’s attention? Share your tweet, get it boosted, increase your chances. 5/
I can honestly say that I consider inviting people like @kathrynacullen and @JamesTreakle to one of my group chats to be among my most meaningful contributions to the movement. This is the value of Twitter—building relationships, boosting each other and promoting our ideas. 6/
A good Twitter trick is to have a tab open with this in the search box: @AndrewYang filter:verified filter:mentions

You can replace Yang’s name with anything to filter blue checkies discussing that thing. “UBI”, “Basic income”, etc. Boost these for Positive reinforcement. 7/
We also need to be promoting down-ballot candidates running on UBI and Human Centered Capitalism. Follow and support @HeidiBriones, @MikeForKY, @davidkim2020, @JonathanHerzog5, @Dr_JLJohnson, @JFKii etc (please tag others I’m forgetting). 8/
A great point made by @ZachandMattShow during his chat with @PagetKagy was the value of leaving your comfort zone and sharing it on Twitter to encourage others. Are you phone/textbanking? Are you writing letters to your representatives? Show us. 9/
Our movement pushes ideas that many still consider fringe. Planting seeds matters whether @AndrewYang runs in 2024 or not. Only 22% of Americans use Twitter but 100% of journalists do. What we do here adds up and is meaningful and over time can lead to change. Let’s do it. /end
