When we carry out 2 tests 24hrs apart and they test negative for COVID-19 it means the virus is no longer in their blood, we consider them okay and ready for discharge - Dr @JaneRuth_Aceng #NTVOnTheSpot

Generally, the population of Uganda has been very supportive, they come out willingly to test for COVID-19 and we are riding on that goodwill and response from the community. One of our biggest tool in this response is the people of Uganda - Dr @JaneRuth_Aceng #NTVOnTheSpot
Uganda has had a number of outbreaks over the years and we have managed to build systems that facilitate the entire response - Dr @JaneRuth_Aceng #NTVOnTheSpot

We have a scientist who is working on rapid test kits in Uganda and hopefully, within the next 2-3 days we will be able to validate the test kits that are being manufactured in Uganda - @JaneRuth_Aceng

About 2 weeks ago we run out of sanitisers, now we have over 20 industries manufacturing sanitisers, we are flooded with sanitisers. I’m actually waiting for the time when they can reduce the cost to the bare minimum so that everybody can afford - @JaneRuth_Aceng #NTVOnTheSpot
Having so many sanitisers on the market is good but we also have to make sure they are of the right quality to do the job. I have requested the National Drug Authority to test them and tell me which ones are okay - @JaneRuth_Aceng

It was a good move for us to have people in quarantine because out of the 53 cases that we have, 30 were got from institutional quarantine while 9 were got directly from the airport. The people who escaped are the ones that gave us the 13 cases - @JaneRuth_Aceng

For the people in institutional quarantine, when any of them tests positive, we begin the 14 days afresh, that’s why people are still in quarantine. The challenge we had from the beginning is that people didn't appreciate the concept of quarantine- @JaneRuth_Aceng

We are under lockdown but how many people do you see on the streets interacting doing exercises, how many people are just busy interacting with friends touching each other not even observing social distancing, it’s not an easy thing to deal with - @JaneRuth_Aceng #NTVOnTheSpot
We must adhere to the laws of the lockdown, when I see Ugandans not worried about the whole COVID-19 pandemic, not putting in the effort to adhere, then it is the Ugandans who will push us in that direction and it will not be good for us - Dr @JaneRuth_Aceng

We need to be responsible citizens, support the entire response and adhere to the rules of the lockdown. Let us practice extreme social distancing, we can get rid of this virus (COVID-19) by just doing that - @JaneRuth_Aceng

I travelled to South Africa on 1st March 2020 and returned on 5th March, by the time I returned, South Africa did not have a case of COVID-19. It’s quite interesting that people zero in on Jane Ruth Aceng, I refuse to be distracted - @JaneRuth_Aceng #NTVOnTheSpot
We must be disciplined and adhere to the rules of social distancing, in that way you will help the health workers to weed out the cases of #COVID19 - Dr @JaneRuth_Aceng

This pandemic is a matter of life and death and we are struggling to see that Ugandans stay alive. We don’t want a situation like that of Italy or what we are now seeing in the United States happen to Uganda - Dr @JaneRuth_Aceng

The pandemic we have is nothing to joke about, what is happening in various parts of the world is something we don’t want to happen in Uganda. Stay at home and adhere to the rules - Dr @JaneRuth_Aceng #COVID19UG #StaySafeUG
