Just got off the phone with a front-line health care worker at the @DeptVetAffairs hospital in Fayetteville who has a fever. The worker asked VA today, both as a hcw and a patient (is a veteran), for a Covid19 test. He was told no.
They told him to stay home, but that unless he could give him the name of the patient he was treating that had Covid19, he didn't qualify for a test. When he asked for the names of patients he treated, they said that would be a HIPPA violation.
He called Washington Region in Fayetteville and they got him right in for a test. The VA in Fayetteville also has a drive-thru testing site. How many people have they tested? Zero.
I should add the hcw also has multiple Covid19 symptoms and gave me permission to share this.
