I know it's frustrating for your preferred candidate to lose the nomination. Trust me. It's happened in every primary I've voted in. But people who are saying they won't vote for Biden - many with completely legitimate reasons in mind - have to realize that this election isn't
just about the person who will sit in the Oval Office. It's about the people they hire for their administration. Sure, Biden probably won't be picking the most progressive people around, but they won't be open white nationalist Stephen Miller. They won't be Betsy DeVos.
They won't be Jared Kushner. Biden will also stop letting various important agencies whither and atrophy, like the Departments of Energy, Agriculture, and Commerce, which collect important scientific data we've been missing out on for 3 years that can help prevent the next
catastrophe we face - which, as COVID shows, we're clearly not prepared for thanks to the Trump administration's gutting of bureaucratic institutions like those. Finally, perhaps most importantly, IT'S ABOUT THE SUPREME COURT. It will be IMPOSSIBLE to pass and keep progressive
legislation if we have a 7-2 SC for the next generation. IT WON'T HAPPEN. And the next president will get to pick 2 or 3 justices. THIS IS BIGGER THAN BIDEN. Hate him all you want, but please realize that it's not about one person. I did not vote for Joe Biden in the primary.
But I will be voting for him in the general, because I know that this election isn't just about Joe Biden. Bernie keeps saying he won the primary on ideas. He's not wrong - the Democratic party is the most left it's been since the 70s. That is a success. One President Biden isn't
going to ruin that (especially if, as I predict, he won't even finish out a first term). But 4 more years of a President Trump could seriously ruin any chances of us seeing real progressive policies enacted any time soon. Let's not work against ourselves, here. Please.
