So Shoto has daddy issues right?? What if Katsuki invites him for dinner for one night and he meets Masaru for the first time?? And Shoto just cries at the dinner table because THIS is what a father should be like.
Oh wait I have more. So we know Bakugou cooks well right? Of COURSE Masaru taught him everything he knows. So once Shoto calms down some and they actually began to eat, he can feel the tears gathering again.
The slightly spicy curry isn't something he would usually reach for, but if he knew it could taste like this he'd eat it everyday. Shoto thinks his quirk is acting up by how warm he feels. It feels like he's being embraced from the inside.
The amount of care and effort Masaru put into the meal makes it taste thousands of times better that Shoto could have ever expected. He wants to cry again but he feels so comforted that it's almost impossible.
I'll probably add to this later today soooo.
Masaru is incredibly perceptive, because underneath all of Katsuki's yelling and rage he has real emotion. So he pretends not to notice when Shoto almost melts into his seat when he is served seconds of dinner.
He also pretends not to notice the jealousy and slight hurt in his eyes when he pats Katsuki on the head affectionately. But he makes sure that next time he reaches for Katsuki, he reaches for Shoto too. Once again ignoring the way he immediately nuzzles into his palm.
Its surprisingly late by the time they finish dinner and Masaru offers for the boys to stay the night. After calling Aizawa to ensure he didnt send the calvary to find them, Masaru draws them a bath and doesn't hold back on the green tea scented body wash.
Katsuki seems surprised because the last time Masaru used the green tea body wash so liberally was the night he was rescued from the clutches of the League.
It was one of their most expensive soaps but also the most relaxing. Katsuki goes to question him but Masaru shakes his head, gestures to Shoto, and leaves them to their bath.
While the boys are bathing Masaru busys himself with transforming the livingroom into a comfy fort/movie theater. He doesn't understand why he's going so much out of his way but something about the emptiness in Shoto's eyes makes his paternal instincts go wild.
In the bath Shoto is more relaxed and comfortable than he's been in actual years. The Bakugou house is large, but cozy and lived in. Nothing like the cold spacious hallways of his childhood home.
The stairway leading up to the bathroom was decorated with pictures of Katsuki, someone who was obviously Katsuki's mother, and Masaru, all at various ages. It makes Shotos heart ache to remember the one photo he owns with both his parents before their "family" dissolved.
As much as he loves it here, it's also a painful reminder of what he could've had. What he will likely never have with his own family and it squeezes his heart in a way that makes him almost regret coming. But now that he's seen what family could be, he also never wants to leave.
So forgive him if he stays in the bath longer than what is socially acceptable in someone else's home. If he uses his quirk to heat the water once or twice to generate more of that green tea scented steam. If he ignores when Katsuki stares at him before he gets out and leaves him
By the time Shoto is finished in the bath his finger tips look like an entire box of raisins. But he feels so good, comfortable in his own skin and the environment around him.
He's also pleasantly surprised by the transformation of the living room into a strange sort of movie nest? There are blankets and fluffy pillows scattered about on the floor in a sort of semi circle all facing the television.
And from the screen the menu music of the movie Frozen is playing on a loop. Obviously waiting for him to join them are Katsuki and Masaru. Masaru is dressed in fluffy pjs and sitting on the couch while Katsuki is sitting next to his feet leaning against his calves.
Shoto takes the obvious spot on the other side of Masaru's feet and attempts to keep his distance, just in case his luck has run out and Masaru was done handing out affection.
Shoto shouldn't have worried because as soon as he starts the movie Masaru is threading his fingers through both of the boys hair and humming under his breath a song with no real tune, but is soothing none the less.
And following the theme of the night Shoto feels tears gathering in his eyes once again. This simple, unspoken understanding between the three of them that there was something fundamental missing from Shoto's life.
And that hole was being filled, or at least temporarily stopped that night. So once again, Masaru and Katsuki both ignore the tears and soft shudders that rack Shoto's until they all drift to sleep, movie forgotten about.
And if in the morning Shoto seems reluctant to leave and Masaru is extra affectionate? Well that's between the three of them.
