To my fellow progressives: Dems in the center will tell us that our vote is *crucial* to winning in November. They will try to vote shame us with the threat of another4 years of Trump. At the same time, they will ignore our concerns and our platform. (1/6)

Look. It can be 1 of 2 things. Either our movement and our group is big enough to matter in the general, or we’re not. If we are important enough to matter in the general, then concessions should be made to bring us into the Biden camp. A progressive VP pick is a good start (2/6)

Other concessions include changing the healthcare policy to leave nobody uninsured, more aggressive climate policy, etc;. There’s lots the Biden camp can move left on that WOULD NOT effect dem turnout in November & would even help pick up some of Bernie’s independent voters (3/6)

The other reality is we aren’t important enough to matter in the general. If this is the case, they won’t make any concessions. They won’t adopt any progressive policies. And if that’s what happens, don’t feel bad about leaving that top spot on the ballot blank. (4/6)

Still show up to vote. Local elections are incredibly important and showing up to vote down ballot is essential. But don’t feel shitty about leaving Biden off your ballot. If he can’t win without us, our vote should be earned just like any other voting block. (5/6)

The Dem Party relies on a fear of republicans to get anyone elected, and they expect all of their electorate to fall in line and vote how they say to vote. You don’t have to do this. It’s up to you and it’s your decision. Don’t listen to the gaslighting and vote shaming. (END/6)
