Amazing reporting here by . @schmidtwolf and colleagues about the online radicalization of the #Halle attacker Stephan Balliet and what investigators found on his devices. Unfortunately behind paywall: https://bit.ly/2xi8vB5 . Some points in the following small thread.

According to the report, investigators found some highly interesting stuff on Balliet's computer and cell phone. What we strongly suspected in our article is now confirmed: he was directly inspired by the #Christchurch attack and originally plotted to copy cat but changed course.
Very interesting details: it seems US far right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones played a major role in Balliet's radicalization. Also investigators found a video of the US #xrw #terror group #AtomwaffenDivision. Fits perfectly into the profile we could pitch together before.
In addition to the #neonazi stuff, an #ISIS video was found. Overlapping between accelerationist and nihilist right wing terror groups like AWD with jihadism has been growing since the group started actively praising jihadists for their martyrdom cult.
While Balliet's manifesto and video did not appear to openly associate him with groups like AWD, it seems that he was much more inspired by hardcore neo-Nazi accelerationism.
