I stopped by the supermarket today and struck up a conversation with the cashier. I asked her how she was doing and managing. She responded, “Better.” She continued by telling me how mean some people have been. Mean to her because the store might be out of stock of something.
She said during the first weeks of this she went home and cried. She also took some anger out on her family. She says she’s doing better managing it now, but it clearly has affected her. She said she has ways to “de stress” when she gets off now.
Pretty heartbreaking stuff. She is, literally, on the frontlines of this #covid_19 battle. We may not all need the police, fire, ems, or even hospital throughout this ordeal, but we do need food. Think of the person, now, behind the mask.
They are putting themselves out there to HELP YOU! They, arguably, are encountering more people, likely many asymptomatic, on a daily basis. We owe them the proper respect.
