A lot of people have been messaging me on how much they need to save to start a brand & formulate a campaign. Let me break down some of the features and costs.
Graphic Design - A design can take hours to make, if you already know how to graphic design. You’re at a cost advantage, otherwise you have to hire someone to create a “collection” unless you want to sell one off pieces. Prices vary from £50-100+.
Models - If you’re starting out as with all due respect a regular streetwear brand, you’d most likely get your friends to model.
Continued - Those that are more of a perfectionist or wish to have their campaign look more high-end would have to look for models that suit the aesthetics of their shoot. Most prices for models range for 100-250/ excluding agency signed models transport not included.
Videographer - you’ll roughly get a price of £200+ most of them more or less offer the quality same work as someone who charges £450 (be smart, get someone who can captivate your vision) Most videographers need a week+ to do edits (you’d need to get 2 drafts and 1 final piece)
Photographer - Tends to range from 25-40 P/H. Quality of work is 50% the lens 50% ability to actually capture a good shot. Again you’re going to need to get a photographer who understands your vision, to the point they’ll know what you want without needing to stop for pointers
Continued - When shooting it’s beneficial to shoot commercial campaigns for 4-6 hours. To gain as much content as possible. (turn around time for photos generally a week. Depends on quantity) Tip - Best to try and minimise your studio shoots to 2-3 hours.
Continued X2 - The cost of renting a studio, this roughly ranges £65-200 depending on what you are looking for.
Cost of products - If you’re making your clothes by hand. Your cost would be the machine used and material cost. Otherwise you’d need a supplier. Good quality costs more, plus research of different types of the same material is needed.
Continued - You will most likely need to make 30+ pieces upwards if you’re starting out. Again another investment. Beforehand I’d recommend getting samples so you can get the sizing and material correct - Roughly £50-100 depending on what product you’re actually making.
Website - If you’re trying to sell high end you’d need a website to match that, you’d need to hire someone who is a coder and experienced on the platform you wish to host your website on. (Recently I reconstructed my own website, this took 3 days).
Continued - Alternatively it doesn’t hurt to learn & it’s a skill that can bring future opportunities and additional sources of income. Additional cost - Domain name + other incentives that comes with it. (My website http://www.simplicityunlimited.co.uk"> http://www.simplicityunlimited.co.uk ).
Marketing - This is where most of your money will most likely go on. Throughout your campaign you’d need your ads running / also adjusting and changing ads.
Continued - Alternatively you can go through the influencer route and pay the price given by the influencers, you’d need to take into account the followers to likes ratio and also comments too. Then give yourself a realistic prediction of the ROI the influencers would give you.
On top of all these cost you’d now need to find an optimal selling price after you’ve added the value of your brand & the time invested into this campaign. Done correctly will bring high rewards. Price is high to get your dreams/vision out there.
