since others are comfortable talking about this publicly now, i’m going to address it as well.

i find it very VERY abhorrent and upsetting that trans people are barring and gatekeeping other trans people from representing themselves in media based on personal opinion.
i understand most if not all of us have a fair share of trauma in our lives. it is the worst. we all have triggers such as pregnancy, afab language, bottom dysphoria, etc.

but what i find is that being kept from and shamed me from wanting to represent myself in media is awful
while trans-specific content such as the bloom zine and trans sheith week, a prompt event i specifically created and hold near to me are both amazing things, my standards for trans media is way higher.

trans-specific content should NOT be the only way trans ppl are reflected.
this is why tags exist. why tws exist.

one story, one trigger, one trauma is not representative of EVERYONE’S trauma. i respect our traumas are different, but i am not here for being gatekept out of representing myself and trans siblings based on one or two people’s opinions
someone very VERY near and dear to me and intelligent said this:

inclusion and representation isn’t making specific content/events for minorities, it’s INCLUDING minorities in mainstream content without being prompted or asked.
i haved applied to zines, to projects, etc. with trans content. i should NOT have to worry about being rejected because my writing has trans content. even worse, i shouldn’t have to worry about being rejected based on that by other, ALSO trans people.
trans content is not some sort of taboo, unspeakable whisper that people should feel ashamed of producing. even worse, they shouldn’t feel ashamed of producing it b/c of another trans person’s views.

it’s not a kink. it’s very, very important to me.
