politicians are in the business of winning votes. if you are always a lock to vote for the democrat the democrats have no reason to ever listen to you or take you seriously.

if they can't win without you? then you can use that to pressure them.

if they can win without you? then there is no reason to ever vote or participate.

but you accomplish nothing if you don't follow through.

trump would be worse domestically. biden would be worse internationally by being more effective at calcifying american influence and objectives. trump would continue the gop's project of gerrymandering and voter supression, biden would stunt the left-liberals of the dem party

with biden we get a rapist war-monger that would be effective as a conservative voice compromising with more conservative voices. he would block any chance of a left-liberal president until the 2030s realistically.

so by voting biden you

(a) punt all leverage left-liberals have with the dem party
for (b) a choice that isn't even obviously preferable from a harm reduction standpoint

as for the supreme court, any left-liberal president that would not stack the courts would be wholly unserious as a policy actor and would assuredly fail regardless of whether the supreme court has brett kavanaugh or stephen breyer as its median voice
