Imagine this: you're a French-trained chef and pastry chef, and March 4 you had an agonizingly painful flare-up of IBD and passed kidney stones sans emergency room care and pain killers. I did this to avoid exposure to the virus and lack of access to my docs. https://twitter.com/hels/status/1248270093903171585
Severe nausea, a lack of appetite, and debilitating pain have left me weak and unable to eat anything. In 10 days I lost 10 pounds. Because my husband is essential, he must go out to work so I'm trying to cook appetizing meals for him but can't stand the smell of food.
As a food writer and bon vivant, the ironic injustice of this is compounded by the loss of my favorite past time, sharing meals with friends. To console me, I'm creating my #FirstMealPostCOVID19List of dishes, much like a condemned man's Last Meal request.
My #FirstMealPostCOVID19List is Sicilian Spaghetti, Chili & Cheese Tamale, Chile Relleno, Cuban Black Beans w Yellow Rice, Poulet au Riesling, Bul Gogi, Tarte Tatin, Tunisian Couscous, Crunchy Corn Tacos with ground Beef (haters and food snobs be damned), Breton Seafood Napoleon.
What's on your #FirstMealPostCOVID19List that you'd like to share with friends and family?
