LEVELS OF MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL - A THREAD

1. Overview of @MiLB

AAA (Triple A is the highest MiLB level - one below @MLB)
AA (Double A)
Class A Advanced (High A)
Class A (Low A)
Class A (Short season)
Rookie Advanced
Rookie
2. AAA - this classification includes 2 affiliated leagues:

The International League (only contains teams from 1 country)
The Pacific Coast League (most teams not on Pacific Coast)

The Mexican League is also classified as AAA but is not properly affiliated.

GOT IT? 😂
3. AA - has three leagues

Eastern League (12 teams)
Southern League (10)
Texas League (8)

Top prospects (good young players) are often put here to play against each other rather than against minor and major league veterans in Triple-A.

Jumping directly to @MLB is allowed.
4. A - things get a bit confusing here (again)

A-Advanced (has 3 leagues totalling 30 teams)
A (has 2 leagues)
A-Short Season (2 leagues play 76 instead of 140 games)

Officially A-Short Season is a different classification below the other two but this thread needs shortening!
5. Rookie - has 2 levels

Rookie Advanced (2 leagues - further along in development - tickets & concessions still sold, unlike Rookie)

Rookie - (lowest level of @MiLB, playing 60 games at parent club spring training complexes in Arizona & Gulf Coast - also Dominican Republic!)
