Look, we've all heard plenty of critiques about millennials lack of communication skills or whatever, but truthfully I've lost count of how many times my friends and I have had to beg 50+ year olds to learn the most basic communication standards in the workplace.

For ex:
-If you need something from me by a specific date/time, please tell me that directly.
-It's not appropriate to call, text, or email an employee at 9pm (or anytime after work hrs). And if you must, certainly not appropriate to expect an immediate response.
-Please prepare ahead...
...asking people to start over mid-project (after hrs and hrs of work) bc you suddenly have a new idea is disrespectful and inefficient.

-If someone asks that a boundary be respected, please try to honor that. Or at least have a direct conversation about negotiating it together.
I have so many more thoughts, but I have to go scramble on a long list of ambiguous expectations that may or may not be due today. Who knows? And yes, I've voiced the relevant concerns directly to the relevant coworker who inspired this thread today. #rant #communication #uggghhh
