Currently on call with fam/friends of ppl in Illinois prisons cohosted by @ParoleIllinois who are sharing testimonials from incarcerated folks amid pandemic:

Stateville inmate Raul Dorado says they can't get medical care unless they're unresponsive, demands nurse on every unit
"You have to be the people that make them know we matter," says Patrice Daniels, an inmate at Joliet Treatment Center who asks public to pressure @GovPritzker to step up health care and further decarcerate
At Stateville "inmtes are scared" facility will become another Rikers Island says Armanda Shackleford, mother of Burge torture victim Gerald Reed. "Our children didn't bring the virus onto themselves, it was brought to them." Says @GovPritzker should pardon torture victims now
"I'm sitting here listening to guys scream for medics and watching bodies being taken out," says Joseph Dole in a recorded statement from Stateville prison amid #COVIDー19 pandemic
"Illinois doesn't have the death penalty but it does now with #COVIDー19," says dad of Menard inmate Matthew Echevarria. "We have no trust in IDOC to treat our children like they're human. They get one small bar of soap/month, forced to shower together, phones aren't wiped down."
Janet Jackson, incarcerated at Logan, says guards have masks/gloves, inmates don't. "I share 3 toilets with 66 women...Only have a shower Monday and Friday...No tests have been given here at Logan and we don't know who's infected. Correctional officers are angry and scared."
