A thread of things i think are underrated and deserve more attention :
1. Patriot, an amazon prime original series - a dark comedy about the life of an intelligence officer trying to prevent Iran from going nuclear. Brilliantly written and executed with a ton of feels, it's sad how people don't even know about this one. A must watch.
2. Fargo, an FX series - this one is relatively well known but i don't see people talking about this. The seasons are not connected but every single season is amazing.
3. El Hoyo(the platform in english), a Netflix original movie - a sci fi thriller about prisoners housed in vertical cells where inmates in the upper cells feed while those below starve.
4. Tumbbad, available on prime - A fantasy thriller set in pre independence era. Everything about this is top notch, the acting, the jumpscares, the eerieness, the writing. Perfect.
5. Karwaan, also available on prime - A feel good movie about a road trip and interchanged dead bodies.
6. Yeh Ballet, a Netflix original - An extremely well executed movie about 2 boys and the struggles they face while wanting to make it in ballet.
7. Peter cat recording studio ( @pcrcdelhi ) - an extremely underrated indie band with some amazing tracks.
8. Lifafa (suryakant sawhney) - this guy's the lead of @pcrcdelhi, but releases solo songs as well. It takes one or two listens to get used to, but once it does, it's addictive asf.
9. Aditi Dot. (Goes by Dot. on YouTube) - The amount of raw talent is unfathomable. I hate that her tracks are not available on any streaming service and I've to stick to youtube for them, but it's worth it. Everybody dances to techno and asymmetrical, few of my favourites.
10. Barry, an HBO series - a dark comedy about a hitman trying to make it in comedy. Absolutely love this one.
11. Laal Kaptaan, available on prime - A movie set in the past about a Naga saadhu trying to fulfill a promise. I hate how poorly this was marketed. Everything about this movie is extremely well done. This movie comes from the makers of Tumbbad itself.
12. Blackmail, available on prime - a dark comedy about a husband who finds out his wife is cheating and plans to teach her a lesson. Now this is not perfect but it was a fresh concept and something i genuinely enjoyed. Overall a good watch.
13. Ugly - this @anuragkashyap72 movie is an underrated masterpiece. A struggling actor, searches for his daughter, Kali, after she goes missing. Soon, he and Bose, her stepfather who is also a policeman, begin to accuse each other of kidnapping her.
14. Udaan(2010), available on Netflix - this @VikramMotwane film is absolutely beautiful. Poetic and extremely quoteworthy with brilliant performances, it's sad how slept on this movie is.
15. Kadwi Hawa - Probably the only movie I've ever seen about climate change. Stars @imsanjaimishra and @RanvirShorey. The acting is top notch and the story is heart wrenching. Really makes you wonder. Definitely would recommend.
16. Raman Raghav 2.0 - Again an underrated gem by @anuragkashyap72 about a symbiotic relationship between a killer and a cop. Stars @vickykaushal09 @Nawazuddin_S and @sobhitaD, what else could you ask for?
