Fun facts about DID:
- We have different handwriting, ages, voices, memories, feelings, and perspectives that don’t always align.
-Dysmorphia effects us differently
This picture is a good visual as to what coming to after a switch feels like.

{DID Awareness}
Children who reach out for help and get ignored, or scolded, or not believed - can grow and turn into someone like We. DID is formed by experiencing repetitive, chronic childhood trauma before the age of 8. People being afraid of systems stems from stigmas and horror tropes.
If you are a visual learner, this one may help you. No one is born with a cohesive identity, that comes later, after they’ve had early childhood to start navigating the world around them.
Systems who DO speak out, who ARE spreading awareness and are working toward breaking stigmas are in a position to take their power back. It doesn’t mean it stays that way. There are sooo many who ((must)) remain silent, for safety. It doesn’t make them less valid.
DID can be a lot to navigate. Amnesia happens to suck, I can tell you first hand. But we have spent our whole lives learning how to work the way we do, and we find that our system often is more organized than even the Neurotypicals around us seeking guidance.
DID dx also often comes along with other party friends like CPTSD, body dysmorphia, depersonalization, Derealization, BPD, and autoimmune disorders (to name a few comorbidities)
Point you should know
No two systems are the same. Their stories won’t be, either.
Point you should know

I’ve always loved how this artist captured how it feels to switch. I had to include it in this thread
If someone chooses to share info with you, be privileged. It doesn’t matter the mental health diagnosis they are coming to you with. They are trusting you with info.

Let me tell you a story, folks
The kids no one heard? Grew up.
They are all around you, and often too scared to say shit because breaking their silence never went well. I guarantee you, you know someone with a system and you’re just clueless. Open your eyes to learn.

As always, if you would like more scientifically backed info that’s more in depth than what I post here, please check out @DissociaDID’s YouTube channel. They have poured years of work into this movement of real information and I for Damn sure won’t let it go to waste.
