/ Here is the info we gathered from the @TNDemocrats' call with the #TN Comm'r of Labor re #unemployment on our call that just ended. Some of this is repeat info, but I hope this is helpful nonetheless. Please read entire thread & let me know if you have questions. #COVID19
/ Dept of Labor has been receiving 25x the number of 1st time #unemployment claims over last 3 weeks. It has increased its number of customer service reps from 20 to 200+. Will add 100 more & will pay over 100k claims over next week. Tech upgrades being made to system daily.
/ Under PUA in #CARESAct expands access to #unemploymentbenefits outside the #unemployment trust fund (sole proprietors, 1099s etc). Under FPUC you can receive $600/wk + your PUA or TUC benefits; If you qualify for $1 of either, you can receive the FPUC $600 thru July 31st.
/ After you apply, you will receive the initial funds from PUA or TUC first, and then the FPUC $600 will likely follow afterwards. The back-payments for each of these #unemployment benefits will be retroactive to March 29, 2020.
/ If your hours have been cut, but you're still making some money, you COULD still be eligible. You should still apply for #unemploymentbenefits. Furloughed or temporary laid-off individuals qualify. Session #musicians/ #artists/etc can qualify has having “hours cut.” #creatives
/ The mandatory turnaround time for payment, from time of application to check in-hand is 21 days or less. After you receive your first check, it will come weekly. No self-employed, ind contractor applicants have received an #unemployment check yet. You arent alone.
/ PLEASE NOTE: Your weekly certification of income status is vital. Do not forget this step. #unemployment is geared on a weekly cycle, so after your initial application, you need to certify that your status is the same. This certification process is very important!
/ The Dept is still updating the system. If you have already applied and had issues entering info, worry not - they are doing retroactive reviews of applications and will contact you via your email or phone provided on your app to inquire further. #unemploymentbenefits
/ Customer service reps are currently available for any questions from 7am-7pm M-F / 8am-430pm Sat-Sun. Online applications can be done 24/7. The dept recommends applying online for #unemploymentbenefits in off-peak hours. If you think you MAY be eligible, please apply.
