i see black feminist politics of care as central to the building of mutual aid networks in our communities.
centering care may not seem particularly “radical”. however, it is the core of creating communities that are strong enough to be capable of standing in truth against violent entities (governmental structures, military, monied civil society, etc).
self and community care rooted in liberatory healing practices can be powerful. when we are healed there is a way to move so aligned with our spirits that all powers that attempt our oppression will fall.
if our spirits are healthy and we are emotionally resilient we can do anything that is aligned with greater spirit.
I’m about to start reading bell hooks’ Sisters of the Yam. Does anyone have any other texts or videos that would be useful for creating a culture of care im our communities?
