We have been living in a Peter Pan age. We didn't grow up, because we didn't have to. We could pretend that food and goodies just appear at stores by magic.
Most never bothered to wonder about the interconnected supply chain required to make the lowly pencil.
When the "bovine" leaders we elected told us to just go home, most of us meekly complied. Yeah there were shortages of toilet paper but it was just because of the "hoarders".
But what happens when we run out of vegetables and meat because the processing plants are closed? They are closed because we forced them to shut down. Some may never reopen.
In Colorado we are months away from having produce in Farmer's markets. Farmer's markets that may not even be open because the cowards shut them down. And what vegetables will they have grown without seasonal labor to plant the fields.
What about the chicken producers that counted on selling to now shuttered restaurants across the country. What do you think will happen to the chickens? The sanitary boneless breasts you buy are not from years old chickens.
Dairy farmers are dumping milk because the demand has dried up. "Give it away for free" the children cry. And that leads to the farmer going out of business.
This will prove to be a very painful lesson in economics to our ever so educated betters. The economy is not a perpetual motion machine you can tinker with.
This disaster is man made. We have no one to blame but ourselves. It is time to grow up, Peter Pan. It is time to open the doors and #LetUsWork
