Went outside and witnessed a neighbor getting her car repossessed. She was crying and begging them not to, explaining she has kids and she's been laid off for a month, but almost has her payment together. Broke my heart. 😢

Banks are cruel. Is this even legal?
Update: our neighborhood busy body/everyone's grandma (shes awesome) has talked to her. It was financed through a local buy here pay here. She was a month behind (she spent her last paycheck on rent & groceries). Not sure yet who she financed through, but will share if I find out
She needed the car to go to the food bank and job interviews. Shes not eligible for unemployment bc she was at a new job for less than 6 months when she was laid off. To get her car back, she has to pay the late month, the next month, and repo fees. Her family is covering it.
My understanding is she was in regular contact with the car company and they only gave her an extra week. I don't know if she just didn't reach out to her family for help before it got this bad or what the deal is there.
I've told our mutual neighborhood grandma to give her my number and tell her not to hesitate to call/text if she needs anything. Going to ask how she feels about doing a GoFundMe. Shes a single mom with 3 kids just trying to get by. Hopefully she'll let us help her.
I just want to say, you're all amazing. So much is terrible right now, but your kindness, compassion, empathy, and generosity has restored my faith in humanity. This is the side of Twitter I love. Thank you all for being part of it. 💖
