When I first made the decision to move across the country I also decided I wouldn’t be bringing any “junk” so I went through all of my belongings and tossed anything (except important documents) that hadn’t been used in 6 months. Best decision ever.
I wouldn’t say I’m a complete minimalist but I’m working on it. Clutter disturbs my peace. I cannot relax with “stuff” everywhere so I’ve also been very mindful of things I buy. It’s working.
Just a suggestion: while you are spring cleaning in quarantine. Even if you decide not to part with it, go through your belongings and make a mental note of nonessential items you haven’t used in 6 months or more. You’d be surprised.
We as human seem to get easily attached to material items sometimes and they take up unnecessary space in our lives. You know the saying “can’t take it with ya when ya die”. It’s true, whether we like it or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️
This was especially difficult for me to accept as I’m a collector. I used to collect everything 😂 It’s gotten easier to not take home every pretty shiny cool thing I see. It’s not only freed up tons of space, it’s also saved me a lot of money!
