I've been thinking about things due to a recent hashtag and want to tweet about something to make a point. I feel like sometimes (atleast in my experience) people can cross lines and not even realize it or do something that makes you feel uncomfortable but
the intent is not sexual but I still feel it's wrong. Like one time I was at a baby shower and a older elderly lady asked me to move because she could not see what was going on but instead of just asking she tw poked me In the butt intentionally too
i felt uncomfortable about this but didnt speak up because I didnt want to make a scene plus had no idea how or if they were related to my friend. but seriously regardless of intent (they wanted me to move) who thinks it's okay to poke random strangers in the butt?
the point of this is sometimes I don't think people think about what they are doing before they do it and i have had other stuff like this happen.
like don't intentionally touch random people in certain areas even if the intent is not sexual (ex sexual harrassment or assault) think before you act
another time someone randomly picked me up to get me to move they are lucky I didnt go all karate on them but I figured it wasnt likely I was being attacked at the gym. I was on the track. another woman too
they were running and i was walking an instead of asking me to move (maybe they thought I couldnt hear because I had headphones in) they grabbed me like they were hugging me from behind and moved me seriously who thinks thats okay? (i was pissed too)
then the lady (she was in a workout class) stopped running later but was doing exercises by the side of the track glared at me when I walked by lol wtf did I do nothing she was the issue
the point of this thread is even if the intent is not sexual don't do stuff like this to strangers (unless it's an emergency like you grab me and pick me up to stop me from getting by a car or something.)
