Rookie RBs, a thread:

I currently have my RBs ranked

1) Swift
2) Dobbins
3) Akers
4) Taylor

I know having JT that low is simply absurd, right? So I wanted to double check myself in some areas, hence the rabbit trail...
I wanted to see if any of these guys were racking up stats against bad teams, especially JT who compiled some major stats in college. I could not judge each against the same thresholds, because they weren't all afforded the same # of opportunities...
So, I looked at their career avg for carries per game. I took that # and narrowed my deeper dive into only games in which they received at least their career avg in carries per game. Once narrowed, I looked at their avg stat lines in those games, and the run D ranking...
of those opponents. Here are the findings:

Swift - in games where he received at least 10 carries (sample size of 20), avg stat line:

18/100/6.5ypc/0.7 TDs.

Avg opponent Run D ranking in those games:

50th
Taylor - in games where he received at least 22 carries (sample size 22), avg stat line:

27/186/6.9 ypc/1.4 TDs

Avg opponent Run D ranking in those games:

63rd
Akers - in games where he received at least 16 carries (sample size 16), avg stat line:

21/103/4.8 ypc/1.1 TDs

Avg opponent Run D ranking in those games:

60th
Dobbins - in games where he received at least 17 carries (sample size 21), avg stat line:

23/144/6.3 ypc/1.2 TDs

Avg opponent Run D ranking in those games:

49th
Is this definitive data? No, not really. But interesting nonetheless. It has me rethinking Swift at 1, and makes me wonder if Dobbins tested at the combine if he would be in more conversation as RB1 🤷🏼‍♂️
So while I thought all 4 were pretty closely bunched before, considering the new information really has me rethinking my rankings. I don't think Swift will be 1 for long đź‘€
