Just got an email from a minor league baseball team encouraging me to & #39;celebrate opening night at home& #39; and realized that the thing that rubs me wrong about a lot of digital engagement right now is pretending it& #39;s normal & we& #39;re all fine & we just have to do things from home!
Can I just have space to be sad and mad and scared or do I have to engage with every brand and organization I have ever come in contact with, but now from home?
home is where i try to interact with fewer brands and organizations
I absolutely understand the anxiety that brands/orgs will lose customers/audiences during this, but maybe it wouldn& #39;t be the worst thing in the world if we all had space to just focus on what is unfolding and then come back to brands/orgs later.
I also think -- as more data becomes available about who is being most impacted by COVID -- that there are a lot of (probably correct) assumptions being made about who is in your audience if your main concern right now is, "but people are bored and we can capitalize on that!"
I honestly didn& #39;t mean for this thread to evolve into a subtweet of museums but here we are
