Deir Yassin Massacre with testimonies, a thread:
According to an interview with Deir Yassin Massacre survivor Mohammad Ismael Sammour, prior to the Nakba, the residents of Deir Yassin lived peacefully with the Zionist colonists in nearby colonies such as Givat Sha'ul.
Deir Yassin residents often saw the colonists do military training in Givat Shau'l but never gave it any thought.
This good relationship extended until 1948. Where Zionist colonists blocked the road from Deir Yassin to Jerusalem. So the residents of Deir Yassin started going from Deir Yassin to Ein Karem to Jerusalem.
Despite signing a non-aggression pact with the Zionist gangs, the inhabitants of Deir Yassin fortified themselves with their little resources and often did guarding shifts at night.
They previously got hold of about 75 weapons through collectively buying them from Egypt. And even the British army supplied the local village council with 10 rifles as per the British aid to the Arab National Guard which acted as a military auxiliary to the British.
The massacre started at 4 am on 9th of April 1948, according to the survivor mentioned above, and ended at 3 PM. The Zionist gangs of Irgun and Stern (Haganah to a lesser extent), shelled the Mosque at Deir Yassin.
The gangs opened fire on the inhabitants, killing and injuring many inhabitants and resistance fighters in the process. Bombing also occurred throughout the massacre. The survivor of the massacre witnessed his own cousin killed in cold blood by Zionist gangs.
They were ordered by the Zionists to get the wounded body of a Zionist gang member to a nearby settlement. They handed in the body and one of the Zionists called onto his cousin to come out of the car.
His cousin came out and the Zionist told the cousin: ''I know you, you're from the post office!" and shot him point blank in the forehead. The survivor also witnessed his father getting killed in front of the family's house.
In the testimony, he said that Zionist gangs also killed children, women, and old men.
"when my mother yelled, bending over him - carrying my little sister Hudra in her hands, still breastfeeding her - they shot her too."
-Fahim Zaydan
In a couple of testimonies from Zionist gang members that participated in the massacre

"When the Cossacks burst into Jewish neighborhoods, then that should have looked something like this"
- Mordechai Gichon, Haganah intelligence officer sent to Deir Yassin
"When I got to Deir Yassin, the first thing I saw was a big tree to which a young Arab fellow was tied. And this tree was burnt in a fire. They had tied him to it and burned him."
-Shraga Peled, Haganah gang member
According to several sources, including Palestine Remembered and the Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, the number of massacred inhabitants of Deir Yassin ranges from 93-107 people. The massacre was part of Operation Nachshon and Plan Dalet. The rest of the 750 inhabitants fled.
The leaders of Irgun, Menachem Begin, and Stern, Yitzhak Shamir would eventually become Israeli prime ministers and their crimes would be forgotten by everyone except those who were (and are) deeply affected by the Nakba.
The rest of the 750 inhabitants were expelled by Zionists as the case was with the survivor who was handed in to the Arabs in East Jerusalem through the British by the Zionist gangs after capturing him.
