Before firefighters begin any additional duties:
- A risk assessment must be carried out and control measures put in place
- Any additional training necessary must be provided
- Any additional PPE necessary must be provided (2/6)

Any further requests for additional work must :
- Not compromise the health & safety of firefighters
- Consider if the FRS is the appropriate agency for this work

Requests for additional work must also be made to the appropriate organisation within the tripartite group - the FBU, the NFCC, or the National Joint Council employers (4/6)
