Excellent webinar by @PIDEpk on construction sector relief package. A diverse set of stakeholders participated and shared great industry insights. I was surprised to hear v mixed reviews about the current package - some applauding and others finding it extremely inadequate... https://twitter.com/MSulaimanSaeed/status/1248153941491290112
The biggest issue of all seems to be that government seems to be driving blind. Data on key aspects either unavailable, unresearched or unutilized. Perhaps some good solid analysis has to be the force for government to present a convincing case for applause across the board.
As always, as an inexperienced students of planning, these macro policy packages don't satisfy my need for understanding the micro contexts driving ability of different stakeholders from benefiting from these.
This push to think and plan more locally also came from most of the discussants. Perhaps the role government hoped to play is at a tier that's too far removed from the ground. Powerful, elected local bodies are the only way forward.
